Sunday Faves: After church catch the Sunday Brunch at the Kwataqnuk Resort in Polson, then go swimming in Flathead Lake's beautiful Polson Bay. Sunday afternoon catch a cold, World Class microbrew at the Flathead Lake Brewing Company in Woods Bay. Enjoy live music from 4-8 pm every Sunday & soak up the sun on their deck or find shade in their first rate tasting room. Sunday night Concert in the Park series in Bigfork at Sliters Park. (Walking distance from downtown Bigfork. Only a 3 bucks and always great music, from folk to Celtic to big band. Take a chair and bug spray. Monday Faves: My favorite place to spend a summertime Monday night in the Flathead has to be Margarita Monday at The Raven in Woods Bay (5 miles south of Bigfork on MT Hwy 35.) $2 Margaritas, great food at the Raven, including my favorite on their menu, Fish Tacos. Jay and Scott, aka "The Bad Larrys" play most Mondays. And of course the incredible deck on Flathead Lake's East shore to enjoy the sunset and/or moonrise. If you are hanging around the Flathead on a Monday, definitely worth checking out. Tuesday Faves: Free music abounds on Tuesdays in the summer in the Flathead... Kalispell Depot Park is the setting for a free Picnic in the Park series every Tuesday evening 7-9...some great acts you'll pay good $ to see play elsewhere. Bring something to sit on. You can bring your own refreshments or get something to eat from the variety of vendors there. A schedule of performers for the summer is available from Kalispell City Parks and Recreation, the host of the series. Fun for the whole family. Flanagan's Central Station in Whitefish also is having music during the week, often on Tuesday night, as well as on the weekend. JIm is bringing some great blues, folk, jazz and rock to town and also provides the best sound and dancing venue in the Flathead. Wednesday Faves: Lunch in the Park free concert series at Kalispell's Depot Park is from 11:30 - 1:30 every Wednesday through August. Same setting but a whole different set of performers than the Tuesday night series. Bring your sack lunch and something to sit on and enjoy some terrific music compliments of Kalispell City Parks and Recreation. Thursday Faves: Year-round the Great Northern Bar in Whitefish is one of the few places to consistently have live music on a Thursday night. Raleigh's Bar & Grill in Polson, just north of the bridge has music and dancing, and a great deck to enjoy the lake. Open Mic Night at the Garden Bar in Bigfork, hosted by Christian Johnson draws some great local performers playing for you. Friday Faves: If it's Friday in the Flathead, you can bet there is some good live music and dancing all over the valley... If you are in Kalispell, check with The Finish Line to see who's playing. They usually have a blues or rock band on Friday nights. You might get lucky and catch locals like Big Daddy & the Bluenotes, Blue Onion, The Rockaholics, or Spokane's Pat Coast and the Out of the Blue Band. If you are in Whitefish, the Great Northern Bar always has a band Fri. & Sat. Also, right across the street is Flanagan's Central Station. Both of these venues have music every weekend. In Bigfork, there are now 5 venues that typically have great live music every weekend...The Garden Bar, Chumley's, and The ReBar, all on the same block downtown in the village. The Bigfork Inn, also downtown, frequently has jazz to serenade you while you enjoy their great dining. Just north of town is a new nightspot, Grizzly Jack's that has a great outdoor stage/concert area. Saturday Faves: Take a drive around beautiful Flathead Lake, end up in Polson at the Glacier Brewing Company Tasting Room and Beer Garden. Sample their award-winning beers or take some home as they are bottling as well. They brew their own sodas for the kids too. Open till 8pm every day. On your way up or down the east side of the lake, stop at Ricciardi's (mile 6) for some great Italian seafood. End up in Bigfork to take in a Broadway musical at the famous Bigfork Summer Playhouse from May through Sept. |
