Dave's Faves

...or what to do for entertainment in the Flathead, as recommended by the publisher of the Flathead Attraction Menu, Dave "the Rave" Venters. The publisher accepts no responsibility for too much fun being had as a result of following these recommendations...

Sunday Faves:

Go to church, then catch the Sunday Brunch at either the Kwataqnuk Resort in Polson, or at Terra Steakhouse in Woods Bay at the Mountain Lake Lodge. Both first rate fare.

Monday Faves:

Monday Night Football at The Grill at Grouse Mountain Lodge. Enjoy All-You-Can-Eat hot wings. Or enjoy the game on the big screen at Ricciardi's Bar & Grill at mile 6 on Flathead Lake's east side.

Tuesday Faves:

Open Mic Night...enjoy listening to great local musicians try out there stuff, or bring your instrument and play Red's Wine & Blues in Kalispell features Christian Johnson & Billy Powell hosting every Tuesday evening 9-11...some amazing musicians show up at these evenings. Also, check out the scene at the Great Northern Bar in Whitefish 9pm-1am for their long-running open mic night.

Wednesday Faves:

Open Mic at Craggy Range Bar & Grill in Downtown Whitefish hosted by Jay DiPaola. Enjoy a fine microbrew next door at the Great Northern Brewing Company's upstairs Black Star Draught House before heading to Craggy.

Thursday Faves:

Year-round the Great Northern Bar in Whitefish is one of the few places to consistently have live music on a Thursday night.

Friday Faves:

If it's Friday in the Flathead, you can bet there is some good live music and dancing in every town in the area...

If you are in Kalispell, check with Red's to see who's playing.

If you are in Whitefish, the Great Northern Bar always has a fun band kickin' up a party. Also, check right across the street at the Craggy Range to see who they have performing.

The Garden Bar and Los Caporales in Bigfork often have live music even in the winter. If you are lucky, you'll catch the local Bigfork three-piece band, Pedacter Project, rockin' the Garden for New Years Eve in one of their last gigs. These young fellas can really jam, and do so with some kick-ass funky originals and creative covers. Well worth a trip to Bigfork to see them.

In Polson, try Ricciardi's for music nearly every Friday night. They'll be having a masquerade ball for New Years.

Saturday Faves:

Great Open Mic jam at Ricciardi's 8-12pm. Take a drive around beautiful Flathead Lake, end up in Polson at the Glacier Brewing Company new Tasting Room and Beer Garden. Sample their award-winning beers (their Slurry Bomber Stout was been named the Best Beer in Montana and the Best Dark Beer at the BeerFest in Missoula a few years ago.) They brew their own sodas for the kids too. Open till 8pm every day. A great way to kick off a Saturday night in the Flathead, or fill a growler to take home. On your way up or down the west side of the lake, or after skiing at Blacktail, stop at Tamarack Brewing Co. Alehouse & Grill in Lakeside for a fine beer and great food.
